Finally!
Starting today, the genders of two partners is not important for marriage in Sweden and the first same-gender marriage subsequently happened this morning [1]. The next step is to kill the arbitrary idea that marriage is binary, but this is, I think, only a temporary solution and mostly an effort to dilute the marriage concept to make finally it useless. The end goal must be to remove marriage — the concept is rather arbitrary in and of itself. Naturally, I don’t mind people marrying, I just find the concept superfluous and mostly only justifiable from a tradition standpoint — an line of argument that, if it was valid, could also be used to exclude gay marriage.

Are you suggesting that in place of marriage we should have some sort of Common Law Cabin, where Cherry, Harry and Raquel can live together in happiness if they so choose, unhampered by the law. That could work, but people love holding onto their traditions. The world is more like Poland than Sweden, you know. Mazel Tov!
